My Halloween Cookies

These are the witches broomsticks I made, they didn't come out looking very good. This is what they were suppose to look like.

These are the cookies I made

and the carmel apples.

The neighborhood party turned out really nice. They had a big fire going outside and everyone sat around the fire to keep warm (it is 44 degrees out there right now) plus we had hot dogs, chili, cupcakes, cookies, chips and dip, all kinds of drinks including hot chocolate and then they did smores for all the kids plus had candy for them. It finally got to cold for me and my nose started running so we headed on home, about half the people had already left but we left a good party still going. I just love this neighborhood. It is so different from the neighborhood we came from.

New Halloween Maxines

These are some new Halloween Maxine's to add to the one's dot had on her blog earlier this week. I don't think she had any of these.

And this is the cutest little puppy I received in my mail earlier today. The puppy is suppose to be saying he is sorry, well if I had this puppy I would hug him and forgive anything he had done. I love this little dog.
Well the rain finally stopped today, we never got the storms they talked about but it was a good steady rain all day so we had grilled cheese sandwiches and chicken noodle soup for dinner tonight.

Pumpkin Carving Ideas

If you haven't carved your pumpkins yet here are some ideas for you, well that is if you are this good, I'm not.

Slow Computers

Ever have one of those days with your computer where you feel like doing this to it?

because it is moving so slow that you think this is what has happened?

Gee even though we have DSL the computers have been moving so slow it feels like we have dial-up. I understand how you folks with dial-up for real get so frustrated some times with the speed of your computers. And now one just for the road and then it is good-night from this end.

Flora wanted to see my rock collection so I got the picture and here they are. I keep them in my front jeans pocket all the time, they are like a good luck charm. If for some reason I forget them and leave the house I worry until I get home. Call me OC.

The Haunted Corn Maze

I couldn't get any pictures inside the maze because it was just to dark but these are the ones I got on the outside of the maze. The whole thing was done by the FFA at Matt's school to raise money.

What A Day

Well it has been quite a day. The Falcons WON, yeeeehaww, beat the Pittsburg Steelers and it was a great game. My computer has been down nearly all day (Sunday) because Jerry was fixing something on it. Last night I had a few more pictures of my house to post but blogger just wouldn't let me so I will do that now.

_______________________________
We had a really good Saturday, the realtors out here had an open house party and invited all the neighbors (I'm sure to make it look crowded and fun) anyway they had hot dogs, drinks, chips, cookies, popcorn machine and a snowcone machine, plus they had one of those big jumping things for the kids, hay rides and for the 5 houses they were showing they drew a name in each of the houses and gave away $100.00 at each house. Of course we tried but didn't win but that is why we don't play the lottery very often. We let Lacy invite her latest boyfriend over Brad and he is a very nice boy. Jerry and I liked him a lot, he is well mannered and seems to be a really good kid. We were impressed with Lacy's choice in boys because some of the boys she likes are loud and lie about every other sentence, of course some people call that just trying to make themselves look cool but I don't like it and I have even gotten to where if they tell a big lie (which Lacy is inclined to believe) like I can do 6 flips off the diving board and then land in a perfect dive I will tell them they are lying especially if I see they are having trouble swimming. It could be because truth is something we stress so much with Lacy because she has a problem with the truth quite a bit herself. Anyway back to Saturday, we liked this boy so much that we ended up taking him out to eat with the family (Mexican tina) and was impressed again with his manners and then took him to a haunted corn maze with us which was very, very dark. They wait until about 8:30 to start it so it will be very, very dark and even though I thought there was a moon out Saturday night it disappeared when we went into the corn maze. It was probably afraid of the monsters as well. It was a lot of fun, of course we got lost in the corn maze and the monsters hiding in there would give us no help except to scare us into running down a different path. By the time we found our way out (I swear I think they would have let you wander around lost until morning) my legs were killing me, you can tell I don't get a lot of exercise. Anyway we finally made it back to the van and loaded up and when we backed up we didn't go anywhere, we were stuck!!!! So we got Jerry, Matt, Brad, Lacy and a couple of other nice guys to push while I hit the gas, it worked and we got out without a tow truck thank goodness. Anyway then we went and got movies and headed home, Brad wanted to come with us so we told him to call his parents as it was getting close to 10:00 and he came back to the house to watch a movie with Lacy. When we got home Michael and Christy were there, had just gotten back from Christy's family reunion so they all watched the movie while Jerry and I got on our computers. Jerry took Brad home around 11:30 but it was a real nice way to spend Saturday. The neighbors are having a block party on our cul-de-sac next Saturday and everyone is to wear costumes, Michael and Christy have theirs, Jerry and I are thinking of going as hobo's maybe, Lacy and Brad are talking about going as a king and queen and Matt will probably dress as a hobo with us. Anyway I will take pictures of all of us and post them next weekend. I did get some pictures in the corn maze and will post those in a second. Life is going pretty good right now, hope all is going well for you also.

Our house for Halloween

Here are our Halloween pictures of our house decorated, this is all we could do this year but we figure if we buy a little every year in about 3 or 4 years our house should look really good. And remember I am still learning how to use a digital camera.

Taco Bell in Georgia

See what our Taco Bell's are now serving. The only problem is figuring
out how the heck you are suppose to pick it up and eat it. Of course
there is a problem with Taco Bell also, every time you try to order the
12 pound burrito they act confused.

The weather has gotten cooler up here today, it is 52 degrees right now. I love it, it gives you a nice little chill every time you walk
outside.
We are fixing to go out to eat so I will close this for now.

Night Owl Cookies

These are some cool looking Halloween cookies I came across today. Here's the recipe.

Night Owl Cookies
Have a hoot with these Halloween treats. They’re perfect for a night time snack.
Prep time: 25 min., Refrigeration time: 30 min.
Baking time: 11 min.
Decoration time: 15 min.
Difficulty: Moderate
What you'll need:
1 bag M&M’S® Brand Peanut Chocolate Candies Pumpkin Patch Mix
1 18-oz. roll refrigerated sugar cookie dough
1/4 cup flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
20 whole cashews
1/2 cup chocolate frosting
2 cookie sheet pans
Plastic wrap paper
Resealable plastic bag

Divide the sugar cookie dough in three pieces. Knead the flour into one piece of cookie dough until smooth, set aside. Combine the remaining two pieces of cookie dough and knead in the cocoa powder until smooth, set aside.
Roll the lighter colored cookie dough into a 1-inch round log about 10 inches long, and move it off to the side. Roll out the chocolate cookie dough on a lightly floured surface to a 10 x 4-inch rectangle. Place the light colored log of cookie dough on top of the chocolate rectangle. Wrap the chocolate cookie dough completely around the lighter colored log. Pinch edges to seal and roll the log smooth. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cut the cookie log into 1/4-inch slices. Place 2 slices, side by side, on sheet pans. Press a cashew into cookie at the point the slices touch. Repeat with remaining cookie slices. Bake for approximately 8-11 minutes, or until cookies are just beginning to golden. Remove from the oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool.
Spoon the chocolate frosting into a resealable bag and snip a small corner from bag. Using the photograph as guide, pipe eyelashes and a dot to secure candies. Add the M&M’S® Brand Peanut Chocolate Candies Pumpkin Patch Mix for eyes. Makes 20 owl cookies.

Hummingbird Envy

Now I very much am jealous of this lady but I guarantee you next year I will be out there with my hummingbirds trying to perform the same tricks. I mean this year they got right up in our faces and carried on all the time so this may not be so hard, I just never thought about it. But come next year these (hopefully) will be my pictures up here on my blog.

Pea's Birthday (a few hours late)

I am late because it has been a really crazy day and my computer has been acting really sick all night but even thought I am late I would still like to wish my friend Pea over at http://peascorner.blogspot.com/ a very, very Happy Birthday.

I would also like to thank the Sons of Confederate Veterans from Cartersville, Bartow County, Cass County and Allatoona Cassville Heritage Association for reading and commenting on my blog about the General. I agree with ya'll, I think the Civil War is a very interesting subject and love reading about it and the History of Georgia.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A church down the street from us, Adairsville Church of God has started doing something they call the 5th quarter on Friday nights after the football games. They have food, drinks (cokes and such), a live Christian gospel band, a game they call Fear Factor (which this week was kinda gross) a football player supposely ate some live crickets according to Lacy, a climbing wall, a bonfire. All kinds of things to keep the youth interested and out of trouble. We let Lacy off of grounding to go to the Homecoming Football game tonight and to the church afterwards. Seems she had a really good time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jerry has been having to put in a lot of extra hours at work because he got transfered to installation and out of backups which is a good thing because once he learns the job there will be no more all night shift work and very few weekends, YEA!!! Anyway since he has been learning the new job we haven't gotten the Halloween decorations up yet so that is what we will be doing tomorrow, getting it all finished and ready for the end of the month. So I will be posting those pictures once we are finished. Hope everyone has a good night, yea I know you are probably already asleep by now.

More Pictures of Halloween Surprises

This is a better picture of the basket I got, Jerry said we could use it for a picnic basket when just he and I went on a lunch time picnic. Plus I got a spooky CD which I will play on Halloween for the trick or treaters.

Halloween Surprises in the Mail

Matt just walked by my computer and saw my blogspot and said "Are we the mouse house?" When I told him yea, he said "So what does that make me, the mouse boy?" I told him yea he had it all figured out. Think I will start calling him mouse boy.

Pea at Pea's Corner http://peascorner.blogspot.com/ did a Halloween exchange package with all those that were interested. Thank you Pea, it was fun buying the stuff and receiving the package. Connie and Rob over at Mumbo Jumbo http://mumbojumbo2222.blogspot.com/ got my name and I got theirs. I received their package the other day but had problems with my disk camera, Michael helped me earlier so I will post those pictures in a second. First I want to let Connie know I sent their package off this evening and really hope they like everything they will get in a few days. I was thrilled with my package and it was so much fun opening it so I want to thank Connie and Rob.

I got Halloween candy, carmel pumpkins, strawberry pumpkins and candy bones. A cute little bag, lip gloss, orange finger nail polish, and a really nice smelling candle (orange spice). Plus a really nice basket that it all came in.

Plus I got a hand towel that says eat, drink and be scary. A pair of Halloween socks (that Lacy is already begging to wear to school). A note pad with a black cat on each sheet, a cute card, some good smelling Apricot and Almond body lotion that I used last night. And see that old black shoe, well it is just the cutest coin purse I have ever seen. Ok for whatever reason I can't get the other pictures to upload so I will put them in another post.

Bad Parents

I don't know about ya'll but sometimes because of the way my 14 year old daughter acts I feel like I am the world's worst parent. Most of the time I can put some real thought behind that and figure out I am not because I have raised two boys that have been close to angles, no real problems, no stretching of my parental skills or questioning wheather I know what I am doing. So I figure God gave me this child to test my limits and so I wouldn't go around thinking I was a perfect parent and as a joke to drive me crazy as I am getting older. Besides I think God knows if he would have given me Lacy first there would have been no Michael and Matthew. Anyway a friend mailed me this picture the other day and after looking at it I could trully say "OK maybe I'm not THAT bad at parenting, just still a long way from perfect"

Now I know they are animals and some animals
don't have such big brains but I have to say I don't know any parents that are this bad. And then I start thinking well Adam and Eve didn't listen to God and I sure wouldn't call Him a bad parent so I have started trying to look at the situation with Lacy and us like that. I am going to change her name to EVE. Have a good day everyone.

The General (for the last time)

Dot my good friend over at
http://www.beneaththeshadyoak.blogspot.com/ wanted to know what had happened to the General. Well now I have an answer for you dot. The General is in the Kennesaw Civil War Museum formally known as the Big Shanty Museum. I will e-mail you the story on how she got there. It is not near as long as the other story but just as interesting. Thanks for doing the word blog dot, I liked your definitions.

I've Been Tagged

Connie over at This Little Blog of Mine http://phxflurry.blogspot.com/ has tagged me, actually she tagged me several days ago but I just found out so I am doing it late. It is a word meme. She picks four words and I have to give a definition without looking in the dictionary. Her words are value, content, listen and control. This is my first time being tagged so here goes.

1. value--the amount of worth you put on something, I value my marriage and kids. I don't put much value in people that are negative all the time.
2. content--when you are happy with who you are and where you are in life.
3. listen--when you really hear what the other person is trying to say to you or you feel like someone is really hearing what you have to say.
4. control--something I am having a hard time doing with my 14 year old, but maybe that is because we aren't suppose to control her as much as guide her and hope she follows. When she doesn't follow or listen that is when we try to control and that doesn't work either.
Thanks Connie!!
Ok now it is my turn. I am going to tag dot. Your words are friendship, honest, anger and beautiful. Give a definition and pass four words on to someone else.
